The Strongman's Gospel

Mission Statement

A price has been paid. It was a large price and cries out for you and me. It is the precious blood of our Lord Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God who was crucified on the cross for our sins and transgressions that hindered us from full fellowship with our Heavenly Father. This blood is now on the Mercy Seat, on the altar of God in Heaven, as an atonement for us forever.

Now, a greater wind of the Holy Spirit is beginning to pick up. Our ship is beginning to heave forward under this wonderful and powerful wind. A slight change of direction has come about. His Holy Spirit is ascending down upon us to guide us to the way He desires His ministry here to go.

The Lord presented us the doctrine of: "The Strongman's Gospel." This "doctrine," is exemplified in the life of Jesus in the New Testament, and can be seen 'in part' in the life of John G. Lake.

Below is a quote from the book put out about John G. Lake by the Copelands. You find it in whole in the introduction. I have referenced this section to help explain the "Strongman's Gospel."

Quote:

God's Lightening Rod.

As a child, Lake had seen enough to know that he and his family needed a miracle. What he didn't know was how to get one.

In the church where he grew up, miracles and supernatural healing never seemed much of an option. If anything, the church people who whom he looked for help spent a lot of time trying to convince him that God meant life's traumas and tragedies for his good. Somehow, Lake could never quite see the good for all the suffering around him. Se he kept looking for his miracle.

At age 16, Lake moved with his family to the Untied States and settled in northern Michigan. It was there that he was saved as a result of the Salvation Army meeting and joined the Methodist Church. But still, sickness would not loosed its death grip on Lake and his family.

Finally, he could wait no longer-something had to be done. And it looked like it would be up to him to do it. He later wrote, "There was nobody to pray for me... As I sat alone, I said,

'Lord, I am finished with the world and the flesh, with the doctor and with the devil. From today, I lean on the arm of God.'"

At that moment, there was no evident sign of healing or any other manifestation of God's power in his body. Yet, one thing was certain, Lake had consecrated himself to God. And though it may not have looked like it on the outside, he knew on the inside that the disease was gone He was that determined.

But while the disease was gone, the struggle wasn't over.

As Lake grew to be a young man, he suffered yet another ailment. Rheumatism was causing his legs to grow out of shape and distort his body.

Again, his church couldn't offer him the results that he passionately sought. His paster told him, "Brother, you are glorifying God." Other church people said, "Brother, be patient and endure it." And for a while, Lake believed them - but he was still deformed. What Good News was there in that? Where was the powerful gospel that had been able to save him?

What Lake really wanted was another miracle. So again, his heart stretched toward God. As he did, a flash of truth pierced the deception of his mind, and in the light of God's Word, Lake caught a glimpse of God's will.

"I discovered that disease was not the will of God at all, but the will of the dirty, crooked-legged devil that wanted to make me like himself. I laid down everything and went to Chicago, to the only place I knew that a man could get healed. I went to John Alexander Dowie's Divine Healing Home."

There in Chicago, the power of God surged though Lake's body and straightened his legs. Lake caught hold of the power of God and the fact that Christianity is "a strong man's gospel."

For the first time he saw how God wanted a race of people who are bold, strong, pure, good and blessed. He saw how the signs and wonders of the New Testament were meant for his day-and everyday.

John Lake left Chicago healed. He also left with a bold gospel that declared healing for everyone - even the unsaved and the unchurched. This was the gospel that sparked astounding passion and boldness in his soul.

Though Lake has been born a sickly child in the 19th century, he now stood boldly at the threshold of the 20th century as a lightening rod stretched between heaven and earth, just waiting to be struck by the very "lightening of God," as he later called it. And with each release of God's power that eventually charged his life, Lake in turn electrified the modern world. Time after time, he jolted Christians and non Christians alike by showing them the true heart and power of God.

End Quote --------

Rising into a 'strongman's gospel' does not happen over night. It begins with a yearning in our hearts for our Lord. It continues as we grow in understanding of what His will is, and then following in His steps. It is a progressive walk that is fueled by each individual's own desire to reach higher and deeper into our relationship with our Heavenly Father and abide in Him deeper every day. We are not going to advocate that you leave your doctor behind, throw you pills away, and walk in a faith that does not spring up from within. This is something that must be between you and your Heavenly Father. This is also one reason that we must be able to hear Him, hear His voice directing us, growing us, and prompting us onward and closer to Him.

The Internet Ministry

I

s the Internet a valid ministry? Can the Lord minister just as powerfully as He can locally in a community building or in a home group setting? Consider the example below:

Quote ----

One night, Lake's phone rang - it was his mother. She was calling him to let him know that his sister was nearly dead, and that if he wanted to see her alive, he would have to hurry. When he arrived she was unconscious and had no pulse. Now what could he do? Lake wrestled deep within his soul.

Then it came to him.

He rushed a telegram to Dowie in Chicago. The message read, "My sister has apparently died, but my spirit will not let her go. I believe that if you will pray God will heal her."

Dowie's reply came: "Hold onto God. I am praying. She will live." And she did. Within the hour, the whole family rejoiced - another Lake had been snatched from death.

Unquote ---

Just as Dowie's Ministry was able to reach beyond the distance through a telegram notice sent from miles away, so too can prayer offered over the Internet flow across the nations bringing salvation, healing, and deliverance from the oppression of the devil, if the Lord is with them. (Acts 10:38)

Expect the Power of God to change your life.

I Want To Hear God's Voice

2Ki 6:15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?"
2Ki 6:16 So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them."
2Ki 6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, "LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Some things in our early lives make a huge impact on our adult lives. We read a lot about the evil things, but how about the good things of God that impact our lives early?

With me, this verse above made such an impact that in my adult years, my life was changed by it.

I was about eight years old when I read this verse, along with some others that would play in the direction I took in life. But this one was the first one the Lord used to set my course in prayer as an adult. As a child, I lived right next door to the church I attended. It was great being so close. I would get to play in the basement during the times they had the doors unlocked.

I found an old bible that was ripped up and had been replaced in the sanctuary by a new one. I took it home and read the psalms. At eight I did not get much out of the psalms, but I got the specific seeds planted in me that the Lord desired I have. One of these seeds was II King 6:15,16. We know these verses where Elisha prayed the eyes of his servant be opened so that the servant could see the mighty army of God surrounding them as a hedge of protection.

Of course, I did not know all this, but I did know that God opened his eyes to see. I wanted to see too. I mean, consider the television movies that were playing. One could watch about ghosts and monsters, if these were real, then so were the angels of God, right? (of course, I was at the age where telling me that the monsters were not real did me no good. I could prove they were real, just go outside at night and see them. smiles)

But, as I grew, even after I accepted the truth that the television monsters were just men in makeup, no one told me the angels were not real. I continued to believe in them. I also had a desire to see them as Elisha's servant had seen them. If he could see them, then so could I.

I never saw them and life went on. I stopped asking to see them, and I stopped a lot of other things too, like going to church, praying, living righteously, ect. But still, the longing for my Lord was deep inside of me. When I did return to Him, one of the first things I desired was to hear His voice. I began to seek to hear Him, to see His angels, to walk with Him in His army, like Elisha.

My church told me that my desire to see visions of angels was wrong, so I did not vocalize my desires, not even to myself. But I did have the desire to live a supernatural life, and by reading this one little story in the Bible, I knew a supernatual life existed.

I began to pray and pray to hear the Lord. I wanted His voice to be in my ears. I needed more to my life than the things I could see, more than the things that I was subjected to each day, more than the small hopes that this earthly life offered. I wanted more. I had no knowledge of the many books that were at the Christian bookstores that could have told me what I needed to know. I had believed all my bible teachers and thrown away all my charismatic books. If the book had anything to do with speaking in tongues, angels, demons, or visions, I tossed it.

I stayed away from those strange people who would say, "God told me..." and I stayed away from people who talked about miracles. I was well schooled by now in the worldly way of understanding Christianity via the mind and intellect. But, my heart wanted more. I did the only thing I could. I read my bible. I talked to God.

I had no thoughts He could or would talk to me. And if He did, I thought it would be a verbal voice from Heaven shaking my windows while He spoke. But, one morning, early before the sun came up, He spoke to my spirit and told me He loved me and forgave me. I cried and cried like a baby. Now, you got to understand my carnal mind. I am sitting at my desk early in the morning crying and my mind does not have a clue how it happened. The words on the page of the Bible were a message to me. That is how I heard Him the first time. They might have been written to Israel, but they were to me. That hearing changed my life.

In a few day later, I had my first vision. I was just about to rise early to go and pray, and while my mind and body was just considering getting up, I had a vision of a man laying down on the ground dead, then I heard a trumpet blast in the distance, and then the man rose up. That was my vision of the rapture. It amazed me so.

I know that I might have shared these things before, but I wanted to go over them again. These two events would have been enough to change my life, but these are not the only things that I have experienced on the path I walk with my Lord Jesus. Thing is, I had a desire. I had a scripture and a desire to have what that servant Elisha had.

Do you know that it is okay to have a desire like this?
Do you know that there is more to life than what meets our eyes?

Didn't He say that no eye has seen, nor ear heard the great things that He has for us? There are things to see and hear that we can not even imagine.

Doesn't it say to 'covet the greatest gifts?"

1Co 14:1 EAGERLY PURSUE and seek to acquire [this] love [make it your aim, your great quest]; and earnestly desire and cultivate the spiritual endowments (gifts), especially that you may prophesy ([1] interpret the divine will and purpose in inspired preaching and teaching).
1Co 14:2 For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding].

Look closely at the second verse above. For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, doesn't this give you a thought that if one can talk to God, that there can be a kind of special type talking? Doesn't something stir inside of you with a desire to have Him more real in your life?

Allow yourself to desire... desire more and receive.

Not to the east, west, or north, but to Macedonia. Go to Macedonia.
Go to the place of the vision, the place where the man in the vision is calling you to come.
You can't go everywhere, although you would like to
You can't lay hands on them all, but only on those to whom you are sent
Lay hands on him, and then send him, thus the word of God spreads

No more are you to go about like a chicken scratching in the dirt, but you are to rise up to be the...

The heart of God is revealed in His people who are called, and have answered His call.

There is a change that is going to happen. There are those who have been called to stand in the front lines of this change and who have a fear of this change. Even within themselves they fear what they are hearing and sink back hoping for His Holy Lightening bolt to strike them with a boldness to believe and to step out.

Many of you have calls on your lives that you are running from. Are...

Let the richness of God pour out through you. Don't repress Him in your heart and thoughts.

The Israelites spied out the New Land that God had promised to them, but underestimated His
ability to move things on their behalf according to His will. They called themselves 'grasshoppers" in the eyes of the enemy, and also said that the enemy considered them to be grasshoppers. Just little insignificant buggs to be...

Why do bad things happen to good people? ... There are many other reasons. But one of the reasons is because the good people associate with the bad. Paul in I Cor. 5 advised the church to deal with the sinner very quickly or otherwise the whole church will be infested with that kind of immorality. If they don't deal with it then the...
